How To Mine Peercoin PPC On Pc

Rejinx: I appauded all of you for your helpful answers. 8) Have you got ur USB ASIC working as you want it now?? I also have one and am currently mining BTC but can post some settings that I needed to run with cgminer. Like cgminer.exe --icarus-options 115200:1:1 --icarus-timing 3.0=100 -S COM7 Though u will need to see what device COM # ur USB is on ur computer. Mine was 7 but yours may be different.

More information: http://www.earninbit.xyz/.

Hope this helps and shout if you need further info/assistance. Also just be careful with ur miner. Take note what USB hub u using as there are reports i seen from people where the hub has fried all their USB miners and the miner can no longer use them. Post about it here info i used to get mining on the device was here FuzzyBear. FuzzyBear: Though u will need to see what device COM # ur USB is on ur computer. Mine was 7 but yours may be different. Post about it here info i used to get mining on the device was here FuzzyBear Mr. Bear, I am plugged straight in to the back of my PC. (Is that Safe?) I just started mining PPC.

It seems to be working OK. IT shows 330Mh/s like it should.

The pool just picked up that it is mining but hasn't from a block yet (only been a few minutes) I never figured out how to put in all that code. IT just ask for the server then name and password. I guess it is running on default.

Let me know if I need to change anything. Jesus Christ Mr. Bear you are everywhere. FuzzyBear: Though u will need to see what device COM # ur USB is on ur computer.

I guess it is running on default. Let me know if I need to change anything. Jesus Christ Mr. Bear you are everywhere. Yeah mine is directly into the back of my PC. I believe the issue was due to the wrong power adaptors being supplied with the powered USB hubs. Some 1000mA cheap leads from china and the hub drawing too much and then spiking and frying the USB devices in there.

So if u just direct into your pc u should be fine as not heard any bad reports of that. In order to run cgminer you can do it one of two ways. The first which u are doing (and I used to) by double clicking the cgminer.exe executable and either inputting the URL and username etc or setting a cgminer.conf and holding all the info in there. The second way which allows you to run commands against the executable as i suggested in the post above, in order to do this u need to do the following: Click the 'start' icon >Type 'CMD' into the search text area >you have just opened a command prompt. Now open a windows explorer and navigate to you folder with the version of cgminer you want to run and copy the file location. Something like C:CryptoCurrencies/Mining/CGminer3.0.1 now go back to the command prompt and type cd C:CryptoCurrencies/Mining/CGminer3.0.1 and hit enter. This should take you to the directory with cgminer.exe in it on the command prompt.

Now you can run the command as i suggested in previous post cgminer.exe --icarus-options 115200:1:1 --icarus-timing 3.0=100 -S COM7 Also if you are fed up of typing in the URL each time you know the cgminer.conf file?? Have a look at the 'example.conf' file. Copy it and rename it to cgminer.conf and put in the URL's and passwords etc. This allows you to setup backup pools as well should the main pool u mining on goes down.

Trust me they do!! And it also allows you to tweak settings for your GPU etc if u mining on that as well. I need to have a look round and see if there any other better parameters to run the USB devices on and I had some errors when doing this with cgminer 3.0.2 but that was a little while ago now so i'll see what I can find and i'll share it here. NOTE *** If u hashing at 330MH then it all sounds good and there is a saying don't change something if it not broken!!

So keep a copy of your exact setup before playing round with these different techniques to run cgminer. Oh and me being everywhere!! Hehe well i am a bit of a crypto junkie!! U see me on the PPC pool, u'll find me on here, and devcointalk.org as i run both these forums, been into crypto's for over a year now and also am an admin on devtome and have almost got my own Massively Merged mining pool setup but still needs work. Just a shame I have a normal 9-5 job as well that takes up so much of my days, and I have a boat i live on that is badly in need of repair work being finished off and the crypto's distract me from that!!

But it all good fun and I pleased to help out whereever i can and show my support to the communities FuzzyBear. Rejinx: I just received my Block Erupter USB. The main reason I wanted one was to mine PPC or other future compatible coins. However, I read that it could be a job to get it working on other coins.

Is anyone Mining PPC with this device and if so, how would I go about setting it up? Thank for any help you can provide. Has this been working for you? I'm glad you started this thread, I have some similar questions but perhaps I'm a bit more of a novice than you. I'm currently GPU mining BTC with Bitminter as it's extremely 'newb' friendly.

This means I currently do not have any experience even with the GUIminer. Have you had some success with the Block Erupter on the GUIminer? Alternatively do you know of any 'newb' friendly pools for PPC that have their own software similar to yPool or Bitminter? Thanks for reading.

So I just received 6x of these block eruptors and have installed the necessary driver. I downloaded CGMiner, but am not entirely sure how to setup the config file. I currently mine primecoins on my CPU, and I want to mine PPC with the eruptors, but I dont want the GPU getting tangled up in the mix for now. I am considering feathercoin which I would mine on the GPUs so I definitely want to keep them free for now. How should I setup my.config file?

I was also curious if I needed to maintain a separate wallet in addition to CGMiner? DeWizLoc: So I just received 6x of these block eruptors and have installed the necessary driver. How should I setup my.config file? I was also curious if I needed to maintain a separate wallet in addition to CGMiner? Welcome to the Forum DeWizLock Ok you can run multiple instances of cgminer on one PC, you can also run the cgminer-nogpu.exe to only run your USB miners. I would probably recommend you create two folders on your computer. One called SHA256 and the other script. Now paste a complete copy of all the files you downloaded for cgminer in each. This way you can set and save two different cgminer.conf files.

Note for mining with multiple USB devices you will need to run cgminer with the options. Cgminer-nogpu.exe --icarus-options 115200:1:1 --icarus-timing 3.0=100 -S //./COM7 -S //./COM12 -S //./COM14 This will run ONLY your USB miners. Remove the -nogpu part and you will mine with your graphics card as well. Regarding a wallet. I don't know how you store your coins, but yes I like to keep a PPC wallet on my PC, I pool mine though and I would advise you do as well, but I don't like to keep too many coins on a website or public server.

I am currently trying to mine PPC using Coinotron's pool, CGMiner, and 8 ASIC USB's. After a few hours of searching online and trying different things from guides all over the place I am still sitting here looking at solid green LED's and I'm fighting the urge to throw them against the wall. Is there any Step by Step tutorial, or an up to date YouTube video tutorial or something that will guide me in the right direction? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Currently when I try to run cgminer-nogpu.exe it tells me that no device is detected, I have installed the drivers and my computer shows the devices in their com ports. Talk about frustration. DeWizLoc: Thanks for the help. Ive got my block eruptors up and running in the sevens 520 pool right now. Im a bit surprised by how many HW errors these guys generate. I should have just about 2GH/sec on this setup and its barely managing 1.8GH on average.

Still GH/w is far better than I could do with GPUs so I cant really complain. Thats because cgminer is a pain to use for them once I seen that I was getting many hw errors I moved over to bfg miner and the drivers for them to use with it and then I have started to use a new multiminer app. If I get chance this week I will submit a full guide on how to use the usb miners as I have 30 of them all running perfect.

I ran my GPU to mine Peercoin overnight at 200mh/s, came back in the morning and I got 0.001. How are people even mining this coin? I really like the idea of Peercoin and I think it's going somewhere, I want to contribute to the economy of PPC however I can't seem to mine anything (very little). I spoke to a friend who said I should stick to scrypt mining and not SHA256 because my machine can't handle it. So, what machine would be able to handle sha256 mining? I tried Google but can't find anything. Any help appreciated.

Hmm, ok, so to mine SHA256 you basically need a LOT of money to start with. So these SHA currencies go into the hand of the rich to make them even richer? Doesn't sound like a fair world currency to me. The thing I am liking about scrypt is that anyone can mine them. I have been mining a few scrypt altcoins and i'm doing ok on my home computer.

As for the question will they last. Who knows, but the more people mining and using the coin, the better. Value is determined by demand and if they are easy to mine, then people will be using them which is good. Right now it just seems big businesses are mining Bitcoin and Peercoin. So what is the point in them having all the 'new world currency'. It seems awfully unfair.

Is the real reason bitcoin and peercoin is going up in value is because people are using fiat currency to buy coins off big businesses? If that's the case then it's a bubble, it wont last. Just don't get it. Why do people think that they have to spend LOTS of money for mining SHA256. Is it just that they are looking at the advertising on the 2nd generation ASIC's and not looking for the lower price end markets.

Dreaming of ordering a KNC neptune for $16,000 for example?? There are people selling 5GH miners at $150 that will earn you 0.5 PPC per day. You can even buy sha256 ASIC's for $20-$30 and that will get you 333Mh and use 1.2Watts of power.

Compared to you GPU that will eat 300Watts for the equivalent hashrate. So SHA256 coins you are paying LESS to your electricity man for the privilege of turning electricity into digital coins. Agreed most gamers have GPU's already hence the attraction for mining.

Do you need more money to start mining scrypt or SHA 256??? SHA256 has lower start up costs and running costs as the technology has just advanced faster on the SHA256 coins compared to the scrypt coins. Fuzzybear edit: just saw you 'Value is determined by demand and if they are easy to mine, then people will be using them' Value IS determined by demand. However if there is no demand for them as no one wants them then they are worth nothing. And the easier they are to mine.

The more people will mine and dump them to make a profit as its just common sense. I would STRONGLY suggest you read up a LOT more on what drives the price for the currencies and the profitability of mining and how it has evolved in the bitcoin community as that is a good case example. Mining Of Bytecoin BCN. Cpu Mine BURST here.

Please do this before wasting any more electricity mining altcoins / clonecoins or investing any money in mining equipment. FuzzyBear: Just don't get it. Why do people think that they have to spend LOTS of money for mining SHA256.

I like a million others am kicking myself for not getting into bitcoin when i heard about it a couple of years ago. Truth be told even if i had a time machine and flung myself back to 2009 i still wouldn't be able to figure out the ins and out of mining and equipment. There is a steep learning curve if you're a total newbie. And even if you're not there is a distinct lack of coherent information.

Math isn't my strong suit, neither is finance nor programming. A perfect trifecta of disaster infact and it seems that you need all three to figure out what to do and how to do it. It's not that i'm an idiot.

There are different ways of learning and i tend ( like others) to be best able to learn via example. R00tsicals videos on what a wallet was, how to set it up, how to buy bitcoins on exchanges and convert them was dead simple. They weren't professionally done but they totally served the purpose of how to get up and running. That was all i was looking for. I've noticed people commenting on his video thread and in the you tube comments how you you do xyz and he doesn't know or is unsure. It would be great if someone could pick up from where he left off and did a easy how to set of videos on mining. Dito thread on how to mine on digital ocean was fairly straight forward as well.

For me that is. I'm used to ftpsing into sites and working a little bit with cloud servers. So i could pretty much figure out what he was trying to say even though i hadn't used digital ocean before or putty. But me it was relatively simple. I did notice some other people having problems. And i thought a video might help ( i may make one to pay it forward) Kudos to r00tsicals & Dito for removing a lot of the mystery and getting straight to the how to.

So fuzzybear when you say 'why. There are people selling 5GH miners at $150 that will earn you 0.5 PPC per day.' The first thing i think is how? What do i buy? Where do i get it from? Will it be economically viable?

How i use it with my pc? How do i set it up to mine? What are the step by step instructions or idiot guide to get it up and running. There's a lot of information to wrap ones head around.

And i get in certain quarters that people might not to share how to do things, or some people may think, it took me ages to find out how to do this and i'm not giving it away. But if you want people to adopt this then sharing the information in an easy to understand way is the only way its' going to happen.

I tend to lurk more and read up as much as i can before i start asking questions, because i realise it may well be the first time i ask this, but it might be the umpteth time everyone else has seen it and thats why no one else has responded. I appreciate you are doing this off your own back and i certainly dont mean to sound ungrateful. I more then anyone appreciate how much time and effort it takes in getting a common team together to organize and do manage things. Currently my focus is on a website i've built ( i'm a infrastructure project manager by career, but have spent the last year learning wordpress in and out it's still in beta but i've gathered a team together to help common cause.) i keep looking at peercoin website and thinking why dont you have a faq, why doesn't the social media team add this in and that in to automate everything to make it easier and then i realise.

It's easy when you know how. TLDR: it's easy when you know how.
